The Infectious Diseases Section within the CC Department of Transfusion Medicine works with pathogen detection in huma specimens. Digital PCR (dPCR) is crucial for viral quantification due to its high precision and sensitivity, especially when dealing with low viral loads or rare viral variants, detecting, and quantifying very low concentrations of viral nucleic acids that may be missed by traditional PCR methods.
