Title Two 23 KH CUSA Clarity Handpieces for the Department of Perioperative Medicine of the NIH Clinical Center Product Service Code: 6650 NAICS Code: 334516 Place of Performance: Bethesda, MD 20892 USA POTS: 23-009910 Description This is a notice of intent, NOT a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will NOT be issued, and quotations will NOT be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price contract to Integra Lifesciences Corporation of Princeton, New Jersey 08540 on a sole source basis to procure the following items: Quantity Catalog Number Item Description 2 C7023 CUSA Clarity 23 KHZ Handpiece 2 C7123 CUSA Clarity 23 KHZ Sterilization Tray 2 C7623 CUSA Clarity 23 KHZ Sterilizable Torque Base X 1 EA This request is to procure two 23 KHZ CUSA Clarity handpieces. These hand pieces will be used by Neurosurgery to remove tumors from the brain and Oncology for liver surgeries. The Operating Room currently has one 23 KHZ CUSA handpiece. However, it is not enough to support multiple cases in a day or multiple rooms at the same time. This purchase request will support multiple cases in a day with no delay in surgery. The CUSA is an ultrasonic surgical aspirator system that is intended for the use in surgical procedures where fragmentation, emulsification and aspiration of soft and hard tissue is desirable. The proposed vendor, Integra Lifesciences Corporation, is capable of supplying the items listed above. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
