The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price purchase order to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc. located in Auburn, California 95602-9562 on a sole source basis to provide quantity one (1) Miltenyi gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heating Units. The Department of Transfusion Medicine has a requirement for the benchtop fully automated Miltenyi gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heaters. The gentleMACS Octo Dissociator is specifically designed to address the challenges associated with FFPE tissue processing for next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments. The gentleMACS Octo Dissociator is specifically designed to address the challenges associated with FFPE tissue processing for next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments. It provides precise control over temperature and mechanical disruption, enabling efficient recovery of nucleic acids from FFPE samples. The instrument employs controlled mechanical disruption combined with adjustable heating elements to optimize the process of tissue dissociation. The heaters help to soften paraffin and minimize the crosslinking of nucleic acids, enhancing the accessibility of DNA and RNA for subsequent extraction. The instrument's gentle disruption approach reduces the risk of further degradation and ensures the preservation of valuable genetic material. Miltenyi Biotech, Inc is the only known source capable of offering the Miltenyi gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heating Units. These products are offered exclusively by Miltenyi Biotec B.V. & Co. KG, its subsidiaries and distributors. They are not available from other vendors. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements.
