A solicitation document will NOT be issued, and quotations will NOT be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price contract to Getinge USA Sales LLC,Wayne, New Jersey 07470 on a sole source basis to provide a Triton 36 Ultrasonic Unit for the Department of Perioperative Medicine for the Sterile Processing Section of the NIH CC. In 2017 the Department of Perioperative Medicine started performing DaVinci Robotic Surgeries using the XI DaVinci Robot. This specialized piece of equipment requires specific specialized instruments. These highly specialized instruments require multiple steps to properly clean the instruments. More specifically Intuitive Surgical has listed only a few ultrasonic cleaners that are approved to properly clean the DaVinci Robotic Instruments. In 2008 an Ultrasonic Cleaner was purchased from Getinge. The unit is not on the approved list for cleaning of the DaVinci Robotic Instruments. The Triton 36 is the replacement that is needed as the current ultrasonic has reached its end of life. This unit is on the list of approved machines that can properly clean the DaVinci Robotic Instruments. This ultrasonic unit serves as a critical function. It is able to clean all surgical instruments as well as all Robotic DaVinci XI instruments. This unit will service all inpatient units and clinics throughout the clinical center for their cleaning needs. The proposed vendor, Getinge USA Sales LLC. is the sole manufacturer of this device. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. The determination by the Government NOT to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
