A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institute of Health (NIH), Rehabilitation Medicine Department/ Physical Therapy section, Clinical Center (CC), intends to solicit a quote and enter into firm-fixed price award for BERTEC CDP/IVR system, with Bertec Corporation. The Rehabilitation Medicine Department/ Physical Therapy section is acquiring the BERTEC CDP/IVR system to have a reliable means of supporting the research and clinical needs internal and external to the Rehabilitation Medicine Department as they relate to patients with balance problems. The BERTEC CDP/IVR keeps the dual-force plate testing functionality and provides immersive virtual technology. The BERTEC CDP/IVR system technology is of great clinical value in both assessment and targeted therapy interventions, especially for patients suffering from dizziness, balance problems and/or motion sensitivity. Training with immersive virtual stimuli can increase patient motivation, adaptability and variability, all factors that positively affect patient outcomes. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements of Part 6. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
