A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. The National Institute of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC),Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) intends to solicit a quote and enter into firm-fixed price Reagent Supplies, with Cepheid. Cepheid, is the sole manufacturer, vendor, and service provider for the GeneXpert 4-drawer and GeneXpert 12-drawer instrumentation. These instruments provide rapid, efficient, and sensitive extraction of nucleic acid from clinical samples, which allow for timely identification of the presence of infectious agents and hastens treatment. As sole developer and manufacturer of these, Cepheid is the only vendor from which purchase of reagent and supplies associated with these existing instruments can be made. The purpose of this correspondence is to request a PO to purchase a reagent kits and supplies from Cepheid is needed for clinical patient care testing by the Microbiology Service in the DLM.
