The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Sterling Corp. This procurement is two new servers allowing for the processing and storage of genomic data and is compatible with existing computing hardware managed by OAMD SCBS. Dell PowerEdge R660xs With Intel Xeon Gold 5420 Server is a newer version of equipment in use by OAMD. Familiarity with the system and interchangeability of certain components are factors in the technical support and assistance of OAMD and thus factors in product selection. The new hardware will be placed in AIP server room to enhance local compute resources. Purchase of Dell rack servers is a brand name requirement for this purchase requisition. Hardware commonality with the OAMD SCBS HPC cluster that uses Dell compatible solutions will ensure the highest levels of compatibility, interoperability, ease of repair, maintenance, and support from OAMD. The Arctic Investigations Program (AIP) Laboratory utilizes the Dell PowerEdge R660xs with Intel Xeon Gold 5420 Server for critical work conducted in the laboratory, which includes infectious disease surveillance studies and applied research. These studies require the Dell PowerEdge R660xs With Intel Xeon Gold 5420 Server to generate and work with genomics data for multiple analytical procedures.Changes to the specified configurations would create incompatibilities and increase the level of effort for maintenance and long-term costs. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested parties may identify their interest and submit documentation of their capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within four (4) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
