The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) has a need to acquire portal biocontainment units (PBCUs) to address future emerging infectious disease outbreaks. ASPR requires the PBCUs to enhance ASPR’s biocontainment operational capabilities, as well as expand its overall operational diversity and flexibility to obtain and provide on-call air transport services to perform emergency deployment of personnel and equipment for biocontainment missions and evacuation of those that are critically ill and may or may not be infected with unique and highly communicable pathogens.
