The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Deputy Director of Infectious Diseases/National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases/ Division of Vector-Borne Diseases (CDC\DDID\NCEZID\DVBD) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Illumina, Inc. 5200 Illumina Way, San Diego, CA 92122. Illumina, Inc. is the only vendor for Illumina reagents for our MiSeq is Illumina. No other vendor supplies these items. It is essential for our laboratory to obtain Illumina MiSeq reagents for sequencing strains of two Tier 1 biothreat pathogens, Yersinia pestis and Francisella tularensis. Sequencing of these select agents is critical for rapidly identifying sources of outbreaks as well as strains that might be genetically modified. Our laboratory currently uses the MiSeq Sequencing System for all our Next-Generation sequencing processes. The MiSeq sequencing system specifically requires and is only compatible with corresponding Illumina MiSeq reagents. We absolutely require system compatibility for continuity of essential diagnostic / research operations and to obtain accurate, reliable sequencing data to enable our laboratory to rapidly respond and characterize strains in the event of an outbreak or biothreat situation. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within ten (10) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
