The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Deputy Director Of Infectious Diseases/National Center for Innumization and Respiratory Diseases/Influenza Division (CDC/DDID/NCIRD/ID) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Miltenyi Biotec, 1201 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Miltenyi Biotec is the only vendor who can provide the gentleMACS™ which is a new generaton of tissue dissociator that CDC proposes to use for their ongoing animal studies. A dissociator is required to process samples. However, there is now a need for a unit with heaters for better viability and recovery of cells. For continuity of our ongoing studies, we need a replacement unit with additional heating units. Dissociators from different companies will introduce experimental variability in our clinical and animal experiments and will also require detailed changes to our quality approved protocols, and SOPs being used in our team. The new instrument needs to be compatible with the existing instruments in the lab to maintain compatibility and quality with previous animal studies data. CDC is currently using a base model of the GentleMACS instrument that was purchased from Miltenyi Biotec and has been approved for use in the protocols by the Quality assurance team The gentleMACS™ Octo Dissociator with Heaters is a benchtop instrument for the fully automated and standardized tissue dissociation for mouse lung tissues. Equipped with eight individual heating units and numerous optimized and ready-to-use gentleMACS Programs the instrument will offer an automated workflow for tissue dissociation for our continued animal work experiment. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within ten (10) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
