The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Acquisition Services (OAS), intends to award a firm fized price sole source purchase order in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1), GeneWiz, 111 Corporate Boulevard, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, to purchase 100,000 base pairs of turbo gene synthesis (inclusive of all subcloning and mini-DNA prep costs required to deliver genes); one hundred twenty-five (125) endo-free maxi-scale DNA preparations; forty-five (45) runs of TurboMUTANT site-directed mutagenesis, and 140,000 nucleotides of express oligo synthesis. The Vaccine Preparedness team (VPT) of the Influenza Division is tasked with providing Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) grade Candidate Vaccine Viruses (CVV) as soon as possible to vaccine manufacturer. The current benchmark turnaround time set for VPT to have novel influenza CVV is thirty days. GeneWiz has proven as the only vendor capable required for extremely rapid gene services, GeneWiz was the fastest company for gene synthesis and mutagenesis when producing requested influenza glycoprotein gens, and the only company that was able to meet the required benchmark of under 7 days business days. Therefore, it is not in the best interest of the Government to use a different vendor as it would cause harm (financial and otherwise) that would not be reasonable. No request for quote will be issued based upon this notice of intent. This synopsis ends in 3 days in accordance with FAR 5.203 (a)(1). Please include reference number (2021-57585) and respond by July 17, 2021 at 3 PM EST. Responses received will be considered for future procurements. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government.
