The Centers for Disease Control and Biotechnology Core Facility Branch Division of Scientific Resources, NCEZID intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price purchase order to ThermoFischer Scientific an upgrade to the infrastructure of an existing instrument in the Genomic Sequencing Lab. The ABI 3730XL is the highest capacity Sanger sequencing instrument at the CDC and regularly processes samples that are critical to the agency’s mission including samples for surveillance, research, and outbreak work. The instrument was originally purchased and needs updated infrastructure to continue to function properly and add expanded capabilities. This upgrade will provide a new computer, new software, and a new and upgraded laser. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
