The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Acquisitions, intend to award a sole source purchase order in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1), to Luminex 12212 Technology Blvd, Austin TX 78727 to purchase MagPlex Microspheres. Luminex Corporation is the only source capable of providing these beads at the level of quality required to run the assay. Furthermore, because of proprietary differences, if required to change bead products, it will be unable to compare results of future studies with past studies (unless every previous study was repeated with new beads, and in most cases there is not sufficient sample left to retest, nor enough labor), something that is integral to CDC laboratory deliverables. Therefore, it is not in the best interest of the Government to use a different vendor as it would cause harm (financial and otherwise) that would not be reasonable. No request for quote will be issued based upon this notice of intent. This synopsis ends in 15 days in accordance with FAR 5.203 (a)(1). Any interested companies are welcome to submit their ability to provide the specified products via email to qaz7@cdc.gov. Please include reference number (2021-56277) and respond by August 27, 2021 at 8 AM EST. Responses received will be considered for future procurements. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government.
