The EMC and Wireless laboratory in OSEL/DBP need to upgrade the lab’s existing Valid8 4G Core Network Emulator to support 5G core network emulation. The upgrade must be compatible with the existing Valid8 hardware platform and can be done through a software package from the same vendor. The upgraded platform is a required component for initiating experimental work to research the use of 5G cellular networks in medical devices. The upgraded platform must allow the possibility of interfacing with 5G base stations to establish an end-to-end realistic 5G communication link.
