The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Hamilton Robotics to obtain Hamilton Vantage 2.0 automation equipment for laboratory operations within the Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS). Hamilton Robotics’ standard patented liquid level sensing and clot detection features are essential for quality specimen transfer in the Tobacco Exposure Biomarkers Laboratory. A crucial step of the analytical detection method involves solid phase extraction and the subsequent drying of SPE plates and Hamilton Robotics offers an accessory, [MPE] 2, that automates this step. Automating solid phase extraction is essential for meeting the demands of the high sample load of the PATH study. Hamilton automated liquid handlers are capable of transferring liquid from a variety of source containers and vials to a number of vials and plates. Furthermore, this system has the ability to account for all actions and locations on the workstation as a standard function, a process that requires significant customization and cost with each of the other company products that were considered. We have also demonstrated with internal testing that the Hamilton Liquid handlers allow for accurate volume delivery, precision, and the ability to be viable with a multitude of liquids. The Hamilton Vantage also has the capability to track of all errors and issues that arise. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
