The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Fisher Scientific Company, Llc for a Sorvall X4R Pro-MD Centrifuge. The Fisher Scientific Sorvall X4R Plus Centrifuge and Rotor offers high centrifugation speeds of up to 15,200 rpm. This speed is essential for these methods because they regularly need speeds of 13,000 rpm. The motorized lid ensures ease of use by needing very little pressure before the instrument locks, requiring only one hand to operate. The automatic rotor recognition, along with the maximized acceleration, braking, and imbalance detection ensures the safety of the analysts, while also providing ease of use. The temperature operates in a range from -10 oC to 40 oC, measuring the temperature of the air in the chamber, as well as the sample temperature, allowing for all the parameters to be met in the different applications of the methods that will utilize these instruments. This benchtop centrifuge has a compact design of 27.2 x 29.4 x 14.2 in, allowing for a small footprint in the lab while also meeting ergonomic standards with the easy sample loading/unloading and cleaning capabilities. The touch screen allows for ease of programming, while also offering the options to monitor the health of the centrifuge. The efficient design allows for up to a 40% reduction in energy consumption during the routine methods. The Fisher Scientific Sorvall X4R Centrifuge and Rotor meet all the required parameters for the Lipids Reference Lab and the PTH project while providing a heightened level of safety and energy efficiency. Therefore, it is the centrifuge we need for the Lipids Reference Lab and PTH project. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within Ten days (10) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
