The Material-Plasma Exposure eXperiment (MPEX), a superconducting magnet, steady-state device, is being constructed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), going forward referred to as “the Company,” to address the harsh conditions inside a fusion reactor. After the target has been exposed to the plasma, analysis of the affected surface is essential to understanding of the effects. To maintain the integrity of the affected surface target it will be kept in a vacuum environment during transportation and analysis. This analysis will be conducted in a Surface Analysis Station (SAS) Diagnostics Chamber to facilitate the study of the pristine affected surface.
