The APS-U will upgrade the performance of the accelerator and experimental facilities, including the modification of beamline shielded enclosures, to take advantage of the new source. Currently, APS is operating with more than 60 beamlines, which have radiation-tight shielded enclosures along the beamlines. As part of the APS-U Project, some of these beamlines will be reconfigured to take advantage of the new capabilities offered by the APS-U source. Hence, a number of the existing shielded enclosures will need to be reconfigured. Some of the enclosures have to be completely dismantled, discarded, and new enclosures built in the same space.
