The Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is updating the fiber optic communications infrastructure for its research laboratory spaces. The new cabling will provide enhanced communication capabilities in and between the ESIF lab spaces, and will extend this capability to outdoor research areas. The objective of this work effort is to upgrade existing research fiber optic communications infrastructure from OM3 to OM4 multi-mode cable, and add single-mode o…cable into lab spaces. This cabling will be rerouted from ITS network closets in the ESIF lab corridor to room EISF/C306, allowing centralized connectivity between ESIF labs and data acquisition systems, and the ESR Lab that is being built adjacent to room C306. The work will also extend the fiber optic communications capability to the Energy Systems Outdoor Test Area (ESOTA). There are 7 rooms/labs that need to have current fiber optic cable removed, and upgraded. Subcontractor is expected to supply all materials as well as perform services.
