NREL is seeking a modern wind turbine that can be used as a research asset for demonstration of decarbonizing industrial processes, wind energy specific research and development (R&D), and grid integration R&D as part of the ARIES (advanced research of integrated energy systems) platform. As such the turbine needs to have modern power electronics and the manufacturer needs to be willing to either participate in R&D or provide information to NREL to allow utilization of the wind turbine for R&D projects which may require non-standard operation (for example, changing (part of) the blade for aerodynamics research, direct current (DC) coupling the turbine with other assets on campus, deploying novel wind plant control schemes) Amendment 1 published 7/13/23: Updated Offer Due Date: 08/25/23 & Q&A's.
