The objective of the CIP is to expand U.S. leadership in the domestic and international distributed energy market sectors by assisting U.S. manufacturers in either lowering the LCOE of wind turbines through component or system innovations, manufacturing process advancements, or in obtaining certification of their turbines. The expected outcome is an increase in the number of certified distributed wind turbines available for the U.S. market and reduction of the LCOE of these turbines installed in distributed applications. Although DW is not defined by size, for this effort the turbine size will be capped at 1000 kW rated power except for Small Turbine Certification and/or Listing topic area which is capped at 150 kW peak power per the scope of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/ American Clean Power Association (ACP) 101-1-2021 The Small Wind Turbine Standard. Under the CIP, the Subcontractor shall conduct work that fulfills the specific tasks for the corresponding topic area. The scope details for each topic area are provided in this section and the work required is described in the Tasks and Deliverables sections that follow. In all topic areas a disciplined engineering approach and a professional level of documentation is expected. In all topic areas the Subcontractor shall identify a baseline wind turbine design for the project and in the case of innovation around a specific turbine component(s), the selected component(s) must be associated with at least one wind generator and have stated support of the wind generator original equipment manufacturer (OEM). All projects should lead to an increase in the number of certified wind turbines in the U.S. market and/or reduce the LCOE of these turbines installed in distributed applications.
