Cobalt iron is a metal alloy that is well suited for use in magnetic applications. This acquisition is for cobalt iron blanks that will comprise the pole bodies and noses of all of the quadrupole magnets within the Advanced Light Source (ALS) Storage Ring (SR), which are being replaced as part of the Advance Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project. The purpose of this RFP is to provide all the CoFe blanks that will comprise the pole bodies and noses of all the quadrupole magnets within the SR. This solicitation will be at the discretion of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to fulfill this requirement.
