A contractor has installed the central monorail beams in both the North and South Caverns. Due to discrepancy in specifications, the beams were not installed in compliance with CMAA guidelines for straightness. Fermi Forward Discovery Group LLC is now requesting proposals from qualified crane and hoist contractors who are interested in performing the modification, installation, and commissioning of the new hoists/trolley assembly on the existing beams in both the North and South caverns. Two 20-ton CMCO electric monorail hoist and trolley assemblies have been purchased and are currently warehoused in Rapid City, SD. These two hoists will need to be installed on the South Cavern central rail to facilitate movement of materials underground. The existing trolleys will need to be modified to fit onto the installed central rail once a proper rail survey has been performed. Two more 20-ton electric monorail hoists and trolley assemblies will be purchased through this contract. These two additional hoists will be installed on the North Cavern central rail to facilitate movement of materials underground.
