Ames Laboratory, under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has a requirement for qualified vendors to provide a Cold Isostatic Press (CIP) as described in the attached Appendix B – CIP Specifications. The resultant subcontractor shall furnish all materials, personnel, facilities, support, and management necessary to meet these requirements. This CIP will be used to consolidate metallic and ceramic powders into a highly dense green body prior to sintering. The powders in the CIP are to be protected and enclosed in a rubber or flexible plastic die. A high isostatic pressure (at least 45KSI) is required to achieve sufficient enough green density The CIP should have a vessel large enough to accommodate a mold having 3.5’’ equivalent diameter and 4.5” length.
