KAUTZ ROAD SUBSTATION CONSTRUCION, UIP SUBPROJECT 2- KRS
Fermilab requires a general contractor to rebuild and renovate the Kautz Road Substation (KRS), UIP subproject SP-2, which supplies electricity to lab buildings and process systems and must be expanded to serve existing and future loads. The contractor must furnish all supervision, labor, materials, tools, plant, transportation, bonding, safety/quality oversight, and related services needed to complete the work per drawings and specifications. Construction is constrained by Fermilab’s accelerator shutdown, anticipated from January 1, 2028, to January 1, 2030, and on-site work must start and finish within that window. Key milestones include submittals/RFIs within 60 days of NTP; yard access on January 4, 2028; foundation completion and readiness for the prefabricated control house by March 31, 2028; AUP of the substation by July 2, 2029; and project completion by September 30, 2029. Amendment 1 clarifies the time and location of the pre-proposal meeting.
