The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a national laboratory owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL is managed and operated for DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy by The Alliance for Sustainable Energy (Alliance), the “M&O Contractor”. NREL takes pride in its world-class research, talented staff, sustainable campus and results that positively impact our local, national and global communities. On the NREL sites there are state-of-the-art facilities available to industry entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, and universities for researching and developing their energy technologies. NREL’s property extends over 476 acres. There are 164 acres on the South Table Mountain (STM) Campus, 305 acres at the Flatirons Campus, and approximately seven acres at the South Table Energy Park. Of the total acreage, approximately 197 total acres require landscape maintenance as follows: 116 acres on STM Campus, 76 acres on Flatirons Campus, and 5 acres on STEP Campus. The primary objective of landscaping and grounds maintenance at NREL is to preserve and maintain its campus open space areas to minimize the negative impacts on the environment and maximize the efficient use of resources to enhance the native and naturalized vegetation communities and wildlife habitat. The Subcontractor shall assist NREL’s Site Operations Team to provide various landscaping and irrigation services in the cultivation of both established and improvement project landscape areas.
