Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a National Laboratory and Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), operated by Princeton University under contract to the United States Department of Energy, wishes to obtain expression of interest from qualified and experienced sources capable of fabricating a Toroidal Field (TF)/Ohmic Heating (OH) Magnet Bundle for the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) Upgrade Recovery Project. The specifications and statement of work for the manufacture, inspection, testing and delivery of the bundle have not been finalized, however, pertinent information needed to respond to this market inquiry is provided by PPPLs TF/OH Magnet Bundle Overview (attached). PPPL plans to perform the requirements in 3 phases; Phase I, the selected firm will participate in the magnet bundle design review process, Phase II, the selected firm will perform the pre-fabrication work and Phase III, the selected firm will fabricate the magnet bundle. Phases II and III are options to be exercised by PPPL. If you believe your firm can fabricate the magnet bundle as described, and is interested in this potential procurement, you are requested to submit the following information via email to the PPPL point of contact for this notice: A. Brief Description of Company – A brief description of your firm’s history and organization and a description of your facilities, products, services, and customers. B. Capabilities and Qualifications Information – Statement addressing your firm’s capabilities and qualifications to manufacture the bundle, to include: Physical infrastructure (e.g., shop floor space, clean rooms, curing oven(s). Personnel resources such as manufacturing engineers, supervisors, and technicians. C. Past Performance Information – A list of references for similar fabrication projects to include: The location and address of the completed projects. The client, the client's Project Manager's name, current telephone number and email address. The monetary value of the completed project. Brief project description. D. Quality Assurance (QA) - A concise summary of your firms QA Program used to assure that products meet the required level of quality and is performed in accordance with customer requirements. This SOURCES SOUGHT notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by PPPL. This notice is intended strictly for market research. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. No solicitation exists at this time. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capacity of qualified sources that can perform the required work. The statement of capability shall be UNCLASSIFIED. Any information provided by industry to PPPL as a result of this sources sought notice is strictly voluntary. Responses will not be returned, nor will respondents be provided any feedback on responses. Please be advised that PPPL will not reimburse parties for any costs incurred in responding to this request. Expressions of interest are due to the PPPL Procurement Specialist, Chi Man Cheung by 4:00 PM (Eastern Time), November 19, 2021. Should PPPL proceed with issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for this requirement, all qualified and capable parties responding to this notice will be notified of RFP availability. The current anticipated issue date of the RFP is January 2022. After receipt of expressions of interest PPPL plans to conduct a videoconference to discuss this requirement in more detail with the interested firms.
