Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) a National Laboratory and Federally Funded Research and Development Center RDC) operated by The Trustees of Princeton University, a US Department of Energy Prime Contractor wishes to notify all interested and capable firms of a potential upcoming solicitation for design support and fabrication of a Toroidal Field (TF)/Ohmic Heating (OH) Magnet Bundle for the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) Upgrade Recovery Project located at PPPL. The TF/OH Magnet Bundle fabrication effort will be performed in 3 phases. Phase I is for design support. Phase II is the prefabrication work, and Phase III is the fabrication and delivery of the magnet bundle. Phases II and III are options to be exercised by PPPL. Please see attached draft of the PPPL Statement of Work and TF/OH Magnet Bundle drawings for additional information. The current plan is to issue the solicitation in January 2022 and award of a subcontract in March/April 2022. Delivery of the TF/OH Magnet Bundle to PPPL is currently scheduled for July 2023. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $5 million (US) and $10 million (US) inclusive of the option items. PPPL contemplates award of a firm fixed-price subcontract. Subcontract award, if any and at PPPL’s sole discretion, will be made to the qualified and responsible Offeror submitting a proposal evaluated to offer the Best Value to PPPL using a best value tradeoff process of technical capability and price. The applicable NAICS code is 335931 Current-Carrying Wiring Device Manufacturing. The proposed procurement will be unrestricted (full and open competition). This notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by PPPL. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. No solicitation exists at this time. The purpose of this notice is to inform interested firms of the upcoming solicitation and solicit feedback on the draft Statement of Work and project drawings. Please be advised that PPPL will not reimburse parties for any costs incurred in responding to this request. Please submit any comments or questions regarding the Statement of Work and project drawings via email to the PPPL Procurement Specialist, Chi Man Cheung by January 3, 2022. Should PPPL proceed with issuance of a solicitation for this requirement, firms responding to this notice will be notified of solicitation availability.
