NREL is currently seeking information on promising low-cost substrate solutions for III-V PV. This could include substrate removal and reuse, less expensive substrates, or other approaches that reduce cost while allowing growth of high quality III-V semiconductor materials. Particular substrates of interest include GaAs, InP, and Ge, although all substrate removal and reuse technologies are relevant. This RFI invites responses from all potential technology developers (‘sources’) globally. Sources that submit responses will be considered by NREL’s technical and selection team for the possibility of funded partnerships to further develop substrate reuse technology based on the response provided.
