REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION This Request for Information (RFI) pertains to the general work associated with fabrication and installation support for one (1) top or under-running (must fit in the design envelope), single girder ten metric tons (11 US short tons) electric crane. The crane will be suspended or running on top of a runway and powered by a mainline conductor. The crane will be operated at or close to the full rated load of 10 metric tons (11 US short tons). The runways and support structure will be part of the eventual order. The systems will be installed in caverns at SURF in Lead, SD, at a depth of around 1 mile from the surface. The contractor will furnish all labor, materials, equipment, testing, and supervision necessary to design, manufacture, no-load factory test, and deliver the cranes per a specification. The final procurement contract will be placed in 2023. The critical characteristics and primary functions are shown in the following pages of this document.
