CFA-686 Carbon-based Fuels Capability - CO2 Storage Vessel

Notice ID:INL-26-056

Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) for Idaho National Laboratory is seeking expressions of interest from qualified firms to design, fabricate, test, inspect, and deliver a 200-cubic-foot ASME BPVC Section VIII Div. 1 “U”-stamped pressure vessel (V-738) for gaseous CO2 service at INL’s Central Facilities Area Carbon-based Fuels Capability (CFA-686). The horizontal vessel requires 304/304L stainless steel construction, 1,800 psig design pressure, -40°F to 500°F design temperature, saddle supports, seven nozzles, band heating elements, and Foamglas-equivalent insulation with aluminum sheathing, designed for outdoor high-desert static, seismic, and wind loads. The anticipated firm-fixed-price contract duration is 28 weeks after receipt of order, covering ASME Code design/analysis, fabrication drawings, WPS/PQR approval, shop fabrication, heating/insulation, shipping to INL, and final Code Data Report/deliverables. Interested firms must demonstrate current “U” stamp capability, stainless steel pressure-vessel welding/radiography experience, inspection/examination/testing plans, ASME Appendix 10 QC and Appendix 47 design compliance, and qualified project/QC management; only qualified responders may receive an RFP. Selection is anticipated in November 2026, and performance/installation will be at INL in a high-desert outdoor environment at 4,900 ft altitude with ambient temperatures from -40°F to 100°F.
