Battelle Energy Alliance, managing contractor for DOE’s Idaho National Laboratory, seeks Expressions of Interest for DOE-funded research to complement seed oil crop efforts at INL’s Biomass Feedstock National User Facility (BFNUF). Research should improve post-harvest harvesting, storage, separations, and scalable fractionation/valorization of non-oil seed components to reduce costs, increase yields, and create valuable product streams; upstream agronomy/genetic engineering and downstream conversion technologies are out of scope. Projects must be led by a U.S. university with INL collaboration, may include industry partners, and awardees will collaborate with BFNUF and generate data supporting an INL-led technoeconomic assessment. BEA expects to fund a maximum of two projects, with anticipated project duration of 12 to 24 months and staffing around 0.25 FTE for the PI and 1.0–3.0 FTE for technicians/postdocs/students. Selection decisions are anticipated in January 2027, and responders may be invited to an RFP process for
