INTRODUCTION Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA) Management & Operating Contractor of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) owned Idaho National Laboratory (INL), is preparing a solicitation in support the NASA Fission Surface Power program. This solicitation targets development and testing of a Technical Demonstration Unit (TDU) to support technology maturation, and risk reduction. “The 10kW FSP TDU effort discussed at the July 31 information session will not result in an RFP. NASA has a directive to pursue a higher power system that will be implemented in a future procurement action. More information to follow”
