The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking information on advanced electrical isolation devices that can operate in harsh environments in order to ensure personnel safety, and minimize maintenance costs. NNL is issuing this Request For Information (RFI) to identify suppliers that are interested and capable of developing and/or supplying compact, rugged, electrical isolation devices (manual disconnects), rated as specified below. Acceptable solutions must meet standards for vibration and mechanical shock, as well as also provide visible air-gap isolation for ensuring personnel safety during electrical equipment work. Particularly compact and novel approaches are highly valued. Desired ratings for three specific devices are as follows: DC Isolation Device 1 o Number of Electrical Poles: 2 o Voltage (V): 1000 vdc o Current, continuous (A): 450 adc o Current, 20 sec overload (A): 800 adc o Current, 1 sec overload (A): 1500 adc o Electrical Isolation Method: visible air gap o Operating Method: manual o Current Interrupting Capability (A): 50 adc o Endurance (number of make & break cycles, while carrying not more than 50A): 1000 o Vibration: per MIL-STD-167-1 Type I o High Impact Shock: per MIL-S-901 for Grade A, Class I, Type C equipment DC Isolation Device 2 o Number of Electrical Poles: 2 o Voltage (V): 425 vdc o Current, continuous (A): 1000 adc o Current, 20 sec overload (A): 1700 adc o Current, 1 sec overload (A): 2400 adc o Electrical Isolation Method: visible air gap o Operating Method: manual o Current Interrupting Capability (A): 50 adc o Endurance (number of make & break cycles, while carrying not more than 50A): 1000 o Vibration: per MIL-STD-167-1 Type I o High Impact Shock: per MIL-S-901 for Grade A, Class I, Type C equipment AC Isolation Device 3 o Number of Electrical Poles: 3 o Voltage (V): 600 vac o Current, continuous (A): 700 aac o Current, 20 sec overload (A): 1300 aac o Current, 1 sec overload (A): N/A o Electrical Isolation Method: visible air gap o Operating Method: manual o Current Interrupting Capability (A): 50 adc o Endurance (number of make & break cycles, while carrying not more than 50A): 1000 o Vibration: per MIL-STD-167-1 Type I o High Impact Shock: per MIL-S-901 for Grade A, Class I, Type C equipment
