Portable Metrology System Requirements: As a dedicated R&D facility for accelerator science and technology, Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA) operates on an aggressive schedule of large-scale reconfigurations. Some reconfigurations require quality assurance and precision positioning for dozens of magnetic and diagnostic elements. During operations, the need for six-degree-of-freedom updates to element positions is often required. The specialized needs of the IOTA research program extend beyond the alignment support typically available from FNAL’s survey group and require a full-featured, portable CMM/metrology system for in-house operations.
