The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking professional and/or technical feedback on a preliminary specification in advance of a formal Request for Proposal. A high capacity helium liquefaction plant is required as a critical element in support of LBNL’s commitments to the US Magnet Development Program, as well as enabling future application specific capabilities within the Berkeley Center for Magnet Technology. A formal RFP was published in December 2020 for the plant, but no award was made due to budgetary constraints. New funding has been made available and LBNL will be proceeding with a new RFP for the plant in the near future. The original specification has been reduced in scope. This Request for Information is soliciting technical feedback to further refine the specification, in the interest of streamlining the upcoming RFP and reducing total price.
