The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience necessary to provide engineering design input, fabrication, and delivery of an acrylic vessel for the Eos detector project. The goal of the Eos project is to construct a few-ton scale detector to demonstrate the impact of novel technology on detection of MeV-scale particle interactions. This prototype has the potential to influence the design of future detectors for both fundamental physics and nonproliferation applications. The detector will consist of an acrylic vessel to house a novel liquid scintillating medium, surrounded by a number of photomultiplier tubes. Optical clarity and mechanical integrity of the acrylic vessel are both critical for this application. Please see the attached Request for Information and preliminary specifications for details and instructions.
