This is a Request for Information (RFI) seeking industry input on designing and operating a secure, scalable, high-performance data center optimized for AI and compute workloads for the Department of Energy. The goal is to inform a future procurement for an on-premises facility capable of training large language models for scientific and national missions. Initial production readiness for approximately 2 MW of compute is targeted for 2028, with potential expansion to about 40 MW. The facility must support mixed AI workloads with stringent security and availability requirements appropriate for a national laboratory. Responses are purely voluntary and are not proposals.
