B006 FIB SEM Room 106 Project The purpose of this project is to support SLAC’s growing CryoEM Program and consists of converting an existing materials science lab in B006 Room 106 into one that will contain and support three (3) CryoEM Focused Ion Beam/ Scanning Electron Microscopes (FIB- SEMs) and their equipment for BSL2 (Biological Safety Level 2) research. The statement of work describes the construction requirements for this fit-out and is based on completed design documents as approved by SLAC’s Building Inspection Office (BIO). Major elements of the scope include demolition of existing fixtures, equipment and utilities, installation of a new equipment chase, reconfiguring existing MEP utilities, adding dehumidification for the space, miscellaneous sitework, and Architectural finishes to provide a complete and operating lab. B006 is a fully operational facility comprised of several active labs with sensitive scientific equipment (ie: CryoTEMs). Care must be taken to minimize disruptions and impacts to the active science and lab users during construction. Potential bidders will need to meet the all necessary criteria outlined in Section L of the draft RFP. A partial list of the criteria required include the following: A minimum of 3 similar projects completed in the last 5 years of comparable size, scope, and schedule A local presence in the San Francisco Bay Area established a minimum of three years An appropriate California current and valid contractor’s license
