The APS-U Project includes removing and installing all new electromagnets and associated equipment housed in a 1104-m-circumference storage ring. The storage ring is in a radiation-proof concrete enclosure inside the experiment hall, which is large enough to encircle Chicago's Wrigley Field. Changes and modifications to the existing cable plant are required to support this revamp. A contractor is required to document the new cabling needs for the new infrastructure. This includes identifying and tagging the items that should be removed as well. The majority of the cables reside in cable tray above the magnetic structures in the storage ring and connect ancillary equipment from the mezzanine above the storage ring tunnel, to the major equipment on the storage ring tunnel floor. The storage ring includes 40 sectors, all repeating the same equipment and cables, except sectors 36-40, called zone F.
