The National Assessment Governing Board (Governing Board) at the U.S. Department of Education intends to issue a Request for Proposals to update the NAEP Science Framework. The Governing Board anticipates issuing the solicitation no later than Friday, February 25, 2022 and awarding the contract prior to June 30, 2022. The Governing Board is responsible for developing assessment objectives and test specifications to produce a NAEP assessment that is valid, reliable, and reflective of widely accepted professional standards. In this work to define the content and design of NAEP assessments, the Board also fulfills its statutory responsibility to improve the form and use of NAEP. The update process will be guided by the Governing Board’s Framework Development Policy which establishes a process for monitoring and updating existing frameworks. These activities will assist the Board in determining what updates to the NAEP Science Assessment Framework will be needed, with an inclusive, comprehensive, and deliberate approach.
