The Department of Education requires contractors to provide high performing junior and senior year undergraduate and postgraduate college students in one of the critical fields of study; Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Communications, Economy, Contracting, Project Management, Law, Accounting, Human Resources, IT communications, and/or Data Analytics related fields, to participate in the Department of Education Internship program. The identified students will be placed within the various program offices inside the Department of Education that will align with their area of study to enhance real world experience with their educational background through a cooperative internship experience. The purpose of this program is to expose both undergraduate and graduate students to the federal sector to gain valuable professional experience that compliments their related to the Department of Education mission. Candidates are recruited based on academic performance, leadership, and community service. This program will afford the Department of Education the opportunity to identify highly qualified candidates for future employment with the Department. The contractor shall provide a pool of potential candidates with educational backgrounds that align to the various Department of Education missions, and the needs/skills set forth by the supporting program offices. On occasion, the Department of Education may require educational backgrounds outside the aforementioned fields such as in the Humanities and Social Sciences, amongst others.
