Request for Information (RFI) Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) Cryostorage Vessels General Information: This is an RFI as defined in FAR 15.201(e) to ascertain whether a commercial item exists that provides the capabilities described herein. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation. All information received in response to this RFI will be treated as business confidential information. Nonetheless, submitters should properly mark their responses if the information is confidential. Background/Overview: The United States Army Medical Directorate - Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (USAMD-AFRIMS) is an overseas laboratory of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). AFRIMS has programs in Enteric Diseases (infectious causes of diarrhea), malaria vaccine and drug research, viral diseases, an Entomology department dedicated study of disease vectors and the Retrovirology department which has been organized to execute vaccine studies for the HIV-AIDS virus. AFRIMS currently maintains a freezer farm that stores roughly 1.6 million samples from various studies. This freezer farm affects every department of AFRIMS, any collaborative samples stored in the freezer farm, and indirectly WRAIR. AFRIMS is working to transition its sample storage to a liquid nitrogen (LN2) based system in order to ensure the best protection, safety, and operational access to irreplaceable samples. AFRIMS is seeking to purchase 25 LN2 Cryostorage Vessels, model LABS-94K CS200 With Double Step CS and built in transformer for 220 VAC. AFRIMS requires a vendor that can ensure not only timely delivery and installation of the cryostorage vessels in Bangkok, Thailand, but can provide a warranty that includes onsite training, preventative maintenance, and emergency maintenance for the equipment.
