This notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes only. The United States (US) Government is seeking sources in order to determine a sole-source justification for the Staar Surgical Company which is a small business. 1. The resulting information will be used to determine if there are sufficient resources to support a sole-source for the solicitation, and award of the contract. The US Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this notice. The 100 percent pure collagen copolymer lens material is not viewed by the body as a foreign object by the body’s immune system which makes it biocompatible. Unlike traditional contact lens, once the VTICM lenses is implanted in the eye, there is no additional maintenance needed. The VTICM is designed to be permanently placed in the eye; however, the lens can be removed if the patient’s vision changes or if it otherwise needs to be removed or replaced. Failure to provide the needed supplies for these surgeries will result in diminished healthcare for the patients.
