This solicitation is being issued to provide repair services for the 1935 Moeller tracker pipe organ. This contract is required to preserve the functional life of the historic 1935 Moeller tracker pipe organ located in Old Post Chapel (Bldg. 335), Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (JBM-HH). This instrument is used very heavily (by concert or church pipe organ standards), with up to five funeral services every weekday, five days a week (except federal holidays). Pipe organs are very delicate and sensitive to environmental issues, especially temperature and humidity, and thus require frequent tuning, which involves manually adjusting thousands of pipes from 16’ to a few inches in length, some smaller in diameter than a common pencil. Up to this point, maintenance has been on an emergency response basis, and very little preventive work has been done. Failure of this organ will negatively impact completion of the Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) mission, which would have a severe impact on the JBM-HH, ANC, DA, and DoD.
