Self assessment tools constitute a critical element of CES instructional material, the lack of which will hinder the learning experience and will compromise AMSC's mission. AMSC Basic and Advanced Course curricula requires students to complete a Learning Style Inventory (LSI) assessment. Additionally required for the Command and General Staff School, the School for Command Preparation, and the Army University's Faculty and Staff Development Division. The LSI is part of the CGSC Common Faculty Development Instructor Course Design. It is critical that our faculty and students understand learning style preferences for them to appreciate and implement the CGSC Experiential Learning Model. Kolb LSI Workbook V3.1 (hard copy and online) are currently coded into the Learning Management System courses as noted above. Selection of another instrument would require redesign of the courseware. Due to the time requirements and cost involved, integration of an instrument other than the Kolb LSI into the current courseware is neither feasible nor in the best interests of the government.
