Construction of 165 acres Placement Area, PA-1A, for Chocolate Bayou lower reach channel. Primary work for PA-1A consists of constructing approximately 10,400 Linear Foot (LF) of perimeter dike with borrowed clay from within the placement area and imported stone to confine the dredge material. Work shall include excavating 128,000 CY of clay from under 7 to 20 ft of water for use as core material at stone dike. Estimated armor and filter stone to be imported are approximately 91,500 ton and 21,500 ton, respectively. Contractor should have experience with dredged material placement areas construction and demonstrate previous contract experience as Prime Contractor. Contractor should expect to use equipment with low ground pressure due to the soft/west material or the use of cranes/excavator on barges. Contractor should observe conditions associated with the Placement Area. Conditions within the placement area are typically wet to submerged at about 3 to 7 feet. The Placement Area is exposed to open water and the contractor should expect heavy barge and ship traffic throughout the duration of the construction. Schedule of completion, approximately 270 calendar days. Site visit is highly encouraged.
