The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center-Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) has a requirement to procure customized Universal Ruggedized ATX System Enclosures (URASE) Air rugged computer system enclosures. These enclosure units, manufactured from aluminum or copper, immediately ruggedize any desktop or server style computer for use on robotic platforms, and are designed to provide thermal dissipation. This requirement will include a base purchase of five (5) units and an option to purchase three (3) additional units. Dura-Metal Products Corporation has been identified as the only source capable of fulfilling the government’s requirement. Dura-Metal Products Corporation previously created and delivered a base URASE Air unit for the REO Program, and the program now needs additional units to be fabricated utilizing the exact same methodology to ensure continuity in the overall operation and testing the are performing on the multitude of robotic platforms that they have in their fleet. The fabrication of these units utilizes additive aluminum parts and therefore requires a very specialized Selective Laser Melting (SLM) / Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) machine. However, even with the same/similar equipment on hand, no other vendor could fabricate new units within the 90 day period that the program requires. ERDC-CERL intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Dura-Metal Products Corporation in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). This is not a request for proposal and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 332439 – Other Metal Container Manufacturing which has a size standard of 500 Employees. This is not a small business set aside. Any interested party that believes they can fulfill this requirement should submit a capability statement to be reviewed. All submissions will be considered, however there is no guarantee that submissions in response to this notice will in any way alter the Government’s acquisition strategy. Responses to this notice will not be considered as a response to any solicitation, a request to be added to a prospective offerors list, or to receive a copy of any solicitation. A determination by the Government not to compete the contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
