Kennebec River Maintenance Dredging
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing an unrestricted Invitation for Bids for maintenance dredging of three portions of the Federal Navigation Project in the lower Kennebec River, Maine, using a trailing suction hopper dredge. The work involves dredging approximately 80,000 cubic yards of clean sand to support navigational requirements for new surface combatants at Bath Iron Works. The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000, with the work expected to take 3-4 weeks. The available work window for dredging and material placement is from 1 December 2026 to 15 February 2027. Performance will occur at Doubling Point, Popham Beach, and Bath Reach in the lower Kennebec River, Maine.
