The proposed work consists of dredging approximately 4,000 cubic yards (cy) (including required dredge and overdepth) to specified depths and side slopes of mixed grained sands and silts from the 10-foot channel/turning area and 8-foot turning basin (with some cobble in the 8-foot turning basin), including a one-foot allowable overdepth in both areas. The mechanical dredge (use of clam shell buckets will be prohibited) will remove material from the channel/turning area and turning basin and transport the material in scows to the Portland Disposal Site (approximately 15 nautical miles away to the south). The available dredging window is between 1 November 2023 and 31 December 2023. The work will require coordination around the tide cycles. Environmental coordination and permitting has been completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
